iAWE is an AI-assisted academic writing evaluation system designed for English for Academic Purposes (EAP). It delivers deterministic, schema-enforced feedback on student essays by combining corpus-informed metrics, rule-based validation, and controlled large-language-model outputs.
iAWE هو نظام ذكي لتقييم الكتابة الأكاديمية في سياق اللغة الإنجليزية للأغراض الأكاديمية. يجمع بين التحليل المعتمد على المدونات اللغوية، والتحقق القاعدي، والتوليد المقيد بالذكاء الاصطناعي لتقديم تغذية راجعة دقيقة، متسقة، وقابلة للتفسير.

The current public release of iAWE is based on an evaluative study of 20 student essays (300–400 words) analysed by the system and benchmarked against expert human feedback.
تعتمد النسخة الحالية من نظام iAWE على دراسة تقييمية شملت 20 مقالة طلابية (300–400 كلمة)، حيث تمت مقارنة مخرجات النظام بتغذية راجعة بشرية متخصصة.
While the analytical accuracy was found to be closely aligned with human judgment, learners did not directly interact with the system during the evaluation phase. This constitutes a documented limitation addressed in future iterations.
وعلى الرغم من تقارب نتائج النظام مع التقييم البشري، إلا أن الطلاب لم يتفاعلوا مباشرة مع النظام خلال مرحلة التقييم، وهو ما يُعد قيداً منهجياً سيتم معالجته مستقبلاً.
This research project is authored by: Dr. Waleed Mandour and Prof. Anwar Mourssi, based on conference paper on February 15, 2026 (4th MEC TESOL Conference - Muscat- Oman).
